The Saline Area Fire Department’s mission is to provide fire suppression, rescue, and fire prevention to the citizens of Saline, Saline Township, York Township, and Lodi Township. To achieve this mission, the department’s responsibility is to preserve and protect life and property from fire and other catastrophes, and to provide education and training to the public in the area of fire prevention.
Burn Permits
Saline residents may call the Saline Area Fire Department at (734) 429-4440 to have a burn permit issued.
The Saline Area Fire Department is currently staffed by 3 full time staff per day. (Max. Staffing 3, Min staffing 2) The Department consist of a Fire Chief, 3 Captains, 1 Lieutenant, 5 Full time firefighters and 8 Paid on Call/ Volunteer firefighters. The Department provides fire suppression, rescue, medical emergency response, and public education to the community.
Provide adequately trained personnel to perform firefighting and First Responder duties.
Maintain efficient emergency operations through planning, organizing and use of resources.
Reduce fire loss due to arson, negligence, or violations of fire code.
Control outside burning by the issuance of burning permits.
Provide increased firefighter safety through improved protective clothing and operating procedures at the fire scene.
Provide public education on fire safety and awareness of potential fire hazards through presentations in the community.
Provide extensive training for firefighters to effectively and safely handle all types of emergencies.
