American Red Cross Training

The Saline Recreation Center offers several Red Cross Training classes. All classes are taught by a certified American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor and at the end of each class you will earn a certification.

To enroll in this two day re-certification course, participants must currently hold a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.

Upon completion of the course, participants will obtain a Lifeguarding certification valid for two years. All class materials are included in the fee.

Prerequisite skills include: 25 yd crawl, 25 yd breaststroke, Water Competency Sequence: enter water, submerge, tread water for 1 minute, complete 25 yd swim on front or back.
Lifeguarding & Emergency Oxygen 5/11 - 5/12 & 5/18 - 19

Upon completion of this four day course, participants will obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification valid for two years. This is a blended learning course and participants will be required to complete the online portion prior to the first day of class. Participants must be 15 years of age or older by the last day of class. All class materials are included in fee.

Prerequisite skills will be tested on the first day of class. All participants should be able to complete a swim-tread-swim (150yd swim-2 minute tread-150 yd swim) and a timed brick retrieval.
Junior Lifeguarding

Junior Lifeguarding 7/22 - 7/26 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. $275/220*

This course is designed for youth ages 11 - 14 to help prepare them for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course. This course will build a foundation of knowledge and skills using dry land and in-water skills sessions in addition to shadowing our organization’s certified lifeguards. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive an American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED certification valid for 2 years and a swag bag that includes a CPR mask, t-shirt, whistle and more.
Babysitting w/ Pediatric First Aid/CPR 6/18 & 6/19 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. $135/110*

This course is designed for youth ages 11+ to prepare them to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children, how to stay safe and what to do in an emergency. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Babysitter’s certificate and an American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification valid for 2 years.
