Establishing excellent technique is essential for safe swimming and to raise your swimmer's potential for long term success in our sport. "Take Your Mark" will cover all competitive strokes in addition to introducing competitive starts and turns. All sessions will be coached by expert stroke technician and Techniq Group founder, Jeff Gross.

Prerequisites: Swimmers should be under 11 and able to safely make it across a 25 yard pool without assistance. Basic knowledge of freestyle and backstroke is required. Interested swimmers must register for a free evaluation to be considered for the program.

Evaluation Night: Evaluations are required before a swimmer begins the "Take Your Mark" program. Evaluation Nights happen periodically throughout the year. Check salinerec.com for upcoming evaluation nights. Please contact Sarah Zietlow at szietlow@cityofslaine.org or call the Rec Center at (734) 429-3502 if you have additional questions.

Level 1: Swimmers will build on foundational freestyle and backstroke skills. Additionally, swimmers will be introduced to breaststroke, butterfly, dolphin kicking and basic dives.

Level 2: Swimmers will cover the four competitive racing strokes in addition to competitive racing starts, flip turns and underwater phases.

Level 3: Designed for advanced swimmers with some competitive swimming experience. This level is targeted for swimmers seeking additional stroke technique work.
