Volunteers In Public Safety

The Volunteers in Public Service (VIPS) program is an important part of the daily operations of the Saline Police Department. VIPS provides assistance to the officers and community in several ways including: high visibility, non-confrontational patrols, handicap and municipal parking enforcement, home checks as part of a special property check program and assistance at community events.

The time donated by our VIPS participants allows the police officers to focus on more complex community concerns and law enforcement emergencies.  VIPS members bring an assortment of skills and training from their own backgrounds. This diversity is paramount for the success of the program.

The VIPS program is open to individuals at least 21 years old with a good driving record and a clear criminal record.

If you would like to learn more, please contact the VIPS Coordinator at the Saline Police Department, (734) 429-7911, who would be happy to answer any questions and/or take you on a ride along.

If you are interested in joining, complete the VIPS application form and turn into Saline Police Department front counter. Once the form is received you will be contacted by the VIPS Coordinator.
