This house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the North Ann Arbor Street District.

Architectural Description: This is a two-and-one-half story, Queen Anne style house, set on a stone foundation. The house has a hipped roof with lower crossed gables. Each of the gables feature fishscale shingles and a rectangular window. The south elevation has a cutaway bay with spindlework detailing and an oval window with keystone trim. The front porch is full-width and has been remodeled since the 1994 Survey. The portico on the porch has been modified and historic window directly above the portico has been partially hidden by the siding. Additional changes include new wood supports and balustrade, a spindlework frieze and lattice under the porch.
There is a remodeled entry porch at the south rear of the house with details that are similar to the front porch. The one-and-one-half story carriage house (ca. 1890) has both fishscale shingles and diamond shaped shingles in the gables, matching those on the house. As shown in the 2004 survey photos, this carriage house has been completely modified from the original. It now has an entry door and porch on the north elevation, as well as new siding, garage door, windows and light fixtures.

History: This house was built in ca. 1890. The 1895 Standard Atlas of Washtenaw County, Michigan displays the name O. Briggs in this location. Dr. James W. Wallace and his wife, Margaret lived here from 1910-1916. Dr. Wallace’s office was located at 107 North Ann Arbor Street. Additional early occupants include Albert and Clara Niethammer, Chris Rentschler and Walter Armbruster (Kosky & Glynn).
