Architectural Description: This is a two-and-one-half story, cross-gabled, vernacular Queen Anne style house, set on a stone foundation. The partial width porch on the northeast corner of the house contains spindlework on the supports, balustrade and frieze. A stairway on the south side of the house leads to a separate entrance on the second story. The majority of the windows are one light over one, emphasized with exterior shutters. There is a small square window in the front gable.

History: George and Harriet Coe built this house in 1906. Their children, Minta and Wilbur Coe lived here through 1926. Following the Coe family, Charles Carven owned the house until his death in 1934. Charles Carven and his wife Julia also owned the house at 102 West Henry Street, as well as other houses in Saline. Mr. Carven served as Marshall and Street Commissioner in Saline for twenty-three years. Charles and Julia’s only child was the late Bessie Carver Collins, a local historian who wrote many articles about Saline. Mrs. Collins owned this house through at least 1947 (Kosky & Glynn).
