Architectural Description: This two-story, hipped-roof house is a unique example of the American Four Square style, with Prairie influences. It is of brick construction and has wide, overhanging eaves. The partial-width, flat-roofed porch has square brick supports and a solid brick balustrade. There is a hipped roof two-car detached brick garage in the rear of the house, built in ca. 1926.

History: Mr. Sim Wilson, publisher of the Saline Observer for many years, built this house in 1928. The plan was designed by Massachusetts architect, Eugene C. Gardner (1836-1915). Gardner had been a prominent architect for nearly fifty years and had authored many articles on architecture for leading magazines. The four square house (a subtype of a hipped roof cottage) was strongly advocated by Gardner. He once said that it "sprang from utility."
