Hydrant Flushing Spring 2024
Starting the weekend of April 13-14 the City will begin its annual spring hydrant flushing. This year the City will flush in 48-hour periods over three consecutive weekends.
The map included here identifies which section of the City will be flushed during each period. It is natural to experience some discolored water during active flushing periods. The flushing process is purposefully designed to stir up sediment in the pipes and draw the sediment out through street hydrants. This activity is vital for the overall health of the public water system and is a recommended best operating practice.
Please avoid doing laundry or activities which may otherwise lead to staining if discolored water is inadvertently pulled in.
Residents are especially cautioned to reduce water usage during periods where crews are located immediately adjacent or within their neighborhood, which is often evidenced by active and open hydrants.
